To Ajax, or Not To Ajax

I’m sending out a call to all of you who’re using, or thinking of using the YurtCMS. Right now, it’s set up so that every server request is going over Ajax, which is cool b/c the app looks responsive, but it’s not so cool because the Web UI is now inaccessible for those people who use screen readers.

I’ve asked the question on #camping and got some help (one person doesn’t want me to give up the Ajax-y goodness, the other’s pointed me to sites that talk about how to make accessible, yet Ajax-enriched pages), and that’s cool.

I’d like to hear more though - do you care if I changed the CMS to require full page refreshes? Do you have any ideas on how you’d solve this problem?
